This month we interviewed our fabulous and very knowledgeable villa specialist, Rose on her favourite Sun-hat destinations and recommendations when on a villa holiday. We asked Rose about her favourite destination, including her tips on where to go, where to eat out and go for a drink and why staying in a villa is the best way to spend a holiday.
Here's what she said...
Rose: My favourite area to stay is Dunas Douradas, as I like it’s close proximity to the beach and restaurants.
Rose: I love Maria’s! For me, you can’t beat the buzzy atmosphere here, especially so on a Sunday afternoon. It’s fun for all the family, it’s laid back and the ocean views are stunning.
For a quieter environment, Restaurante Figueiral in Almancil is fabulous. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the food is excellent. I highly recommend the prawn crepe starter, and the chateaubriand on the stone.
Rose: For an evening drink with views of the ocean, I would recommend BJ’s Ocean side in Quarteira. They offer a great choice of drinks, the service is excellent and the views at sunset are beautiful.
Rose: I enjoy a trip to Mar Shopping Centre in Loule for some retail therapy, they have a great choice of shops and plenty of places to grab some lunch, too.
Rose: The water sports on the lake in Quinta do Lago are great for children, at Artur’s Watersports Academy. All the family can get involved, and try activities such as kayaking, pedalos, sailing and there is a great aquapark.
Rose: One thing which makes the Algarve so special is the amazing stretches of coastline. One of my favourite beaches is Praia da Falesia, which runs between Vilamoura and Olhos de Agua. There are over 8kms of golden sand, clean water and the distinctive cliff scenery. Each time I travel there, I explore somewhere new, and you always come away with more unforgettable memories.
Rose: The Eastern area of the Algarve is a real gem, and not to be missed! Tavira is a picturesque and traditional old town with cobbled streets, well worth a visit. It is only 20 minutes from the Monte Rei Resort.
Rose: My favourite destination is Barbados.
Rose: Everything!! From the second I arrived I think I had decided it was my favourite place in the world! We stayed in a villa called New Mansion, and when we arrived the sun was setting. You can walk from the gate behind the pool directly onto the beach, and I was speechless. The people of Barbados are so welcoming. We visited the rum distillery at St Nicholas Abbey one day, and also the Flower Forest on another day. I loved seeing the monkeys just casually hanging around in the trees!
Rose: I would love to visit Tuscany. I would definitely hire a car, and explore the beautiful villages.
Rose: The feeling of being able to completely relax as soon as you arrive. With no-one else around but your own family and friends, you feel completely at ease and can just enjoy it.
Rose: The flexibility of no restrictions – you don’t have to consider set breakfast times, or having to rush to the pool for a sun lounger! All of your creature comforts in your own private space with no-one else to consider!
Rose: Absolutely!
Rose: I would definitely recommend a villa holiday to family and friends, as it makes for such a relaxed holiday.
Rose: I would have to say Godings Beach House in Barbados! Take a look and you will see exactly why 😊
