Overview

The building, from 1855, has been refurnished offering modern living spaces without compromising the 19th century architecture, with large wooden windows and narrow balconies with stunning views to the city.

With modern, attractive and functional furniture the interiors are stylish and comfortable mixing orange, green and pastel colours with wood and cork. The interior design is complemented by the artwork of acclaimed Portuguese modern artists- Jorge Santos, Angela Ferreira aka Kruella D'Enfer, Ana Aragao and Ana Perez Quiroga, with art pieces specially created for Martinhal Chiado.

Each apartment has a kitchen complete with a stove, dishwasher, washer-dryer, fridge and basic crockery, cutlery and pots and pans to make your city centre stay perfectly manageable, and even more importantly, enjoyable with little children.

The family concierge services enable you to pre-organise little details like bottle warmers, bottle sterilisers etc prior to arriving at the hotel.

Kids Club

In Martinhal Chiado, a superb kids club has been created covering the ages of 6 months to early teens where kids can be looked after by the caring and responsible staff in a safe and secure space whilst parents enjoy their time in Lisbon- even at night!

The pyjama club will look after children from 3 to 9 years old at night and ensure that they feel comfortable even if they fall asleep in the custom-designed club, enabling parents to have a night out in the bustling city of Lisbon! If you prefer to have your children looked after in your apartment, baby-sitting can be organised for any age from a few months old- upon request.

The Creche is dedicated to babies and little toddlers, who will receive the perfect stimulation in the ideal environment. High quality age-specific toys will entertain them and the dormitory will allow them to rest whenever needed.

Raposinhos and Fox Club:- Raposinhos means little foxes and children here are encouraged to be the same- active and inquisitive. Catering for children from 3 to 5 years old with interesting activities according to the age of each child. The Fox Club, for 6 to 9 year olds, is a place for arts and crafts, games, Lego, X-Box sessions and more.

M Bar- Family Cafe

The M Bar is the cosy family café lounge and offers breakfast as well as a tasty selection of healthy homemade snacks and light meals for lunch and dinner. In a 19th century building, the interiors mix traditional curved ceilings and Portuguese tiles with contemporary furniture creating a stylish and unique ambience. The famous VW Campervan, a trademark favourite toy for kids in other Martinhal properties, has become a BMW Isetta- more suitable for the city and part of the M Bar furniture! Breakfast baskets with patisserie items, fruit, milk, yoghurt, jams with fresh orange juice, as well as an in-room dining menu for you to enjoy in the comfort of your apartment is also available.

Activities & Recreation

Lisbon is an amazing city to visit. For example try the riverfront Belem area where you'll find Unesco's World Heritage Sites such as the Belem Tower, built in the early 16th century as part of the city's defence system or the Mosteiro dos Jeronimps, The Maritime Museum, Planetarium and Archaeology Museum. And whilst in the area don't leave without tasting the original 'Pastel de Belem' the traditional Portuguese custard tart.

Kids love to explore the city in one of the traditional trams or tuk-tuks and Lisbon's parks and gardens, many with children playgrounds, are great for a relaxing moment.

Parque das Nacoes is the modern part of the city, a futuristic glass and steel district, home to some wonderful examples of modern architecture and the Lisbon Oceanarium.

The Chiado area itself is full of excellent cafes and restaurants for experiences directly outside of the hotel. The famous market turned sophisticated food court, Mercado da Ribeira, is located literally just 5 minutes from Martinhal Chiado. A large part of the Lisbon experience is dining at one of the acclaimed restaurants by various rising Portuguese stars, experiencing the bars in the trendy Cais de Sodre or Chiado areas, enjoying a rock concert at the Coliseum or a Fado night in Alfama.

There are many options for shopping from the malls such as El Corte Ingles to the Avenida da Liberdade where you'll find designer brands such as Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Boss etc. Beach and fantastic golf are just 30 minutes away, accessible by train from Cais do Sodre station or by taxi.
